Our Small-Scale Village Infrastructure Initiatives project supports rural communities in Laos by developing essential infrastructure based on their specific needs. Each year, we collaborate with local villagers to build and improve facilities that enhance daily life and promote well-being. Key Activities Include constructing and renovating school buildings and midwifery stations, improving access to clean drinking water and sanitation facilities, building small irrigation systems to support sustainable farming, constructing village suspension bridges to improve connectivity, and establishing community learning centers for education and training. These projects are community-driven, with local villagers taking the lead in construction through self-help initiatives. GLAD provides the necessary materials and equipment to support these efforts.
To date, we have successfully completed 140 infrastructure projects across various provinces in Laos. These efforts have improved access to education, clean water, and sanitation, leading to a noticeable increase in primary school enrollment and better living conditions for communities.
